Are blog rolls not a thing anymore? I’ve noticed not many people do them lately, but I wish everyone had one and think they’re helpful and interesting. I recently started one (and will keep adding to it), and I want to highlight the blogs I’m starting with here in a post as well. These aren’t new blogs, they’re just some of my favorite/most visited blogs from 2017 (listed in no particular order). I was going to do top 10…but I ended up with 11 and just went with it.
The Spooky Vegan— I’m in love with The Spooky Vegan’s blog about horror movies, vegan treats, and all things spooky and Halloweenie! I’ve watched quite a few of Sarah’s horror movie recommendations and have never been disappointed.
The Vegan 8— I love The Vegan 8’s recipes because they’re all vegan and oil free (and usually gluten free), but are still rich and delicious! They also only use 8 ingredients or less, and Brandi is a Texan too! Some of my faves from last year were these: Cheesy Tortilla Bake, Low-fat Spinach Artichoke Fries, Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Apple Hand Pies.
Chocolate Covered Katie— Katie’s blog is one of my favorite food blogs because I love dessert (which is the focus) and the recipes aren’t complicated/don’t require a lot of ingredients. I also appreciate that most of them are or can easily be made gluten free and oil free. Some of my favorites that I tried last year were donuts, banana mug cake, Texas sheet cake, and broccoli cheddar quinoa bites.
Logical Harmony— I found Logical Harmony when researching about making the switch to vegan and cruelty free beauty, and it’s my go to place to check if a brand is cruelty free and for vegan makeup resources. I also enjoy Tashina’s videos, especially Foundation Fridays and favorite and empties.
Wifelife— Rhian is one of my favorite You-tubers, and I always look forward to her videos about vegan/cruelty free makeup, skincare, fashion, home things, and mental health.
Lazy Smurf’s Guide— This is my go-to blog to check out vegan food options in Austin–whenever my Dad and sister are in town I refer to Stephanie’s Austin vegan friendly restaurants list to find omni places to try. There’s also an all vegan restaurant list, a vegan taco guide, and reviews of vegan/vegan friendly places in Austin.
Vegan Disney World— Obviously this is a niche blog, but it was a lifesaver during my trip to Disney World in May. Disney isn’t great about posting allergy friendly options/menus online so their list of vegan options in the parks is super helpful, and I watch/basically study their Instagram as well in preparation for future trips (can’t wait for Disney 2018!)
XO Mia— When I found Mia’s (a fellow Austin vegan!) blog, I spent hours reading back into the archives–I just love Mia’s style and how she encourages and inspires people to be their awesome geeky selves and share their fandom loves. I also adore her cosplays–the Daenerys one is so epic! #goals
Fashion Veggie–Molly is a Dallas vegan who writes about cruelty free fashion, and I love her style and feed!
A Beautiful Mess— I love looking at all of the room renovation/styling photos on A Beautiful Mess. Their blogging story and success really inspires me as well!
Minimalist Baker— This was one of the first food blogs I found from Pinterest after I went vegan, and I still love their recipes–some of my faves are Mediterranean Sweet Potatoes, Chipotle Aoili (so good on burgers & fries), green bean casserole, and this Caesar Salad. I’ve also made quite a few of their desserts in the past, and they’re really good (I just haven’t made them as much lately because I usually prefer oil-free recipes.)
What are some of your favorite blogs/Instagrams/Youtube channels? I’m still looking for more great blogs to read/Youtube channels to watch, especially if they write/talk about: vegan food (especially ones with gluten & oil free options), cruelty free beauty/makeup, TV/movies/fandom things, Austin, travel, style, spooky/witchy things, tidying/decluttering, or vintage/thrifting.
