I tried a lot of new vegan and cruelty free makeup in 2017 and want to share my faves with y’all! Last year I shared my Top 6 Makeup Favorites of 2016, but this year I’m going to share a favorite or two from each makeup item I use on a daily basis. I’m mostly including new products, but there are a few repeats from last year because they’re still my favorites. All of the brands listed are cruelty free/Logical Harmony approved, and all of the products are vegan. (Find out more about the difference between vegan and cruelty free products here.)
Primer: Cover FX Illuminating Primer— I like the subtle illumination of this primer–it helps my skin look glowier under full coverage foundations.
Foundation: Cover FX Total Cover Cream Foundation (N20) & Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able Foundation (Ivory 12)– The Cover FX Cream Foundation is one of my favorites because the cream formula is great for my dry skin, and it has good medium to full buildable coverage. I also love the Marc Jacob’s foundation–it’s very full coverage without looking cakey.
Concealer: Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Creme (L5 Neutral)– This has been my favorite concealer for over a year now–I’ve tried other concealer samples from Sephora, but nothing has come close to this one so far.
Powder: Cover FX Illuminating Setting Powder (Light)– This is a recent one, but it’s quickly become one of my favorites because it sets my foundation without making my skin look too matte/dry.
Bronzer/Blush: e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder (St. Lucia)– This is a repeat from last year, but I have yet to find a blush/bronzer I like better, and I use it every day.
Highlight: Root White Gold Illuminator— This highlight was by far one of my best purchases of 2017–it’s so pretty! After trying this one, the other highlights I have seem boring.
Setting Mist: Kat Von D Setting Mist— I love this setting mist because it feels hydrating and actually seems to help my makeup last longer. I purchased it multiple times in 2017.
Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil (Auburn)– My favorite brow product is the same one as last year, but now I use Auburn instead of Taupe to match my red hair.
Eyeshadow Palettes: Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Highlighting Eyeshadow Palette Vol. III, Styli-Style High Impact Series palette (Vol. 2 Precious Metals)– I picked up the Tarte eyeshadow palette at Sephora as a last minute purchase before my wedding in Vegas, and it was my most used palette of 2017. I love the shimmery shades, and I can easily create pretty, natural looks using only this palette. I also love the Styli Style Precious Metals Palette–I use the blue/green colors for my Love Witch inspired eye looks, I use the copper shade to do my brows, and I love the rose gold and sandstone shades as well.
Eyeliner: Pacifica Magical Multi-pencil, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (Trooper)– I use the Pacifica Multi-pencil daily to line in my waterline and brighten my eyes, and the Kat Von D Tattoo liner is still my favorite liquid liner.
Mascara: Root 100% Lash Natural & Organic Mascara (Black)– I love how this mascara lenthens and separates my lashes, and the fact that it’s made of natural ingredients is awesome as well. I still love the Pacifica Dream Big from last year too.
Lip Color: e.l.f. Lip Liner & Blending Brush (Natural), Styli-Style Go To Gloss (Peach Out), Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liners (Vampira & Outlaw)– My most worn lip color combo in 2017 was the e.l.f. Lip Liner (Natural) with Styli-Style Go To Gloss in Peach Out. The e.l.f. liner in natural is close to my natural lip color, and I appreciate how affordable it is, and the peach out gloss is so pigmented and pretty. I also love the Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liners in Vampira & Outlaw paired with my Kat Von D liquid lipsticks.
Brushes: M.O.T.D. Lux Vegan Makeup Brush Set, e.l.f. Ultimate Blending Brush, Beautyblender Pro— The M.O.T.D. brushes are gorgeous, soft, and versatile, and the punny names make them extra cute. (Get 10% off M.O.T.D. with code pennysportal!) I also love the e.l.f. blending brush with the Marc Jacob’s foundation, and the Beautyblender to blend out concealer.
