Hey everyone! I love watching my fave Youtubers make videos about their empty products and whether they’d repurchase them or not, so I decided to do the same thing but in blog form. As a photographer the thought of photographing empty containers makes me cringe though, so I’m not going to do that. Here’s a pretty photo of the new e.l.f. St. Lucia I recently bought instead. 🙂
As always, all of these products are cruelty free and vegan! (I use Logical Harmony to verify the cruelty free status of companies.)
Elf St. Lucia Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder– I’ve mentioned multiple times that I love this bronzer/blush duo, and that’s still true! I don’t do much contouring, so this simple duo works really well for me, and I love the shades. It’s also really inexpensive because it’s e.l.f., it’s great for travel, and it lasts for a long time (mine lasted over a year with regular use.)
Too Faced Hangover Rx Primer– This coconut water primer was one of my go-tos for a long time because it’s light but feels hydrating. Too Faced isn’t one of my favorite brands anymore since now they’re owned by Estee Lauder (who tests on animals) though so I’m not planning on repurchasing it. I recently tried a sample of and liked/bought a full size of the Marc Jacob’s Coconut Primer instead, which is similar.
Kat Von D Beauty Concealer (L5)– This has been my go-to concealer for a while now, and I repurchased it already of course!
Kat Von D Beauty Tattoo Liner (Trooper)- This is my all time favorite eyeliner, and I’ve repurchased it countless times. I love how easy it is to work with and how well it stays on.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (Auburn)– I use this product every day along with a copper shadow to do my brows, and I’ve already repurchased it. I was out of it for a few days and used the Brow Pencil I also have instead, but I prefer the precision I can get with the brow wiz.
Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Soap– I got this soap after Rhian recommended it for cleaning makeup brushes, and it works really well. I just wet my brushes and then lather them on the soap and rinse until they’re clean. It works really well when cleaning makeup sponges as well! I’ve already purchased a new one.
Pacifica Purify Cleansing Wipes– I love that Pacifica is an accessible all vegan beauty brand, so I wanted to like these, but they didn’t remove my makeup well, and I won’t buy them again. I typically only buy makeup wipes when I’m traveling, but I think next time I’ll try the Yes to Cotton ones that JKissa recommends. If you have any faves, let me know.
Tatcha 1-Step Cleansing Oil (Travel size)- I wanted to try a few Tatcha products, but they’re expensive, so I got some travel sizes. I love this cleansing oil–it removes my makeup well (even eye makeup and matte lip color) and leaves my skin feeling soft and clean. I debated on whether I should purchase the full size since it’s pricey, but I did end up investing in some during the Sephora VIB sale.
Beauty Without Cruelty Eye Makeup Remover– I’ve bought this makeup remover multiple times because it’s available locally and removes makeup fairly well, but I’m not planning on repurchasing it since I just invested in the Tatcha Cleansing Oil which removes all of my makeup without having to use cotton balls/multiple steps.
Derma-E Purifying Gel Cleanser– This detox/purifying cleanser has algae and charcoal, and it lathers and cleans well, but it seemed too drying for my (often dry) face, so I ended up using it as a spot treatment wash on areas where I get hormonal acne (chin, back, etc.) It didn’t seem to help much though and don’t plan on purchasing it again.
Tatcha Water Cream (Travel size)- This moisturizer is really lightweight…too lightweight for me. I have dry skin, and this stuff didn’t feel moisturizing at all. I got a sample from Sephora rewards, and I won’t purchase it, though I may try the Enriching Renewal Cream since it’s intended for dry skin (the Water Cream isn’t.)
Andalou Naturals Argan Stem Cell Recovery Cream– This moisturizer felt hydrating (especially compared to the Water Cream), but I’m not in love with it and am not sure if I’ll repurchase it again. I have yet to find a night cream that I love, so if you have any recommendations (especially for drier skin), please let me know!
Giovanni 50:50 Balanced Shampoo & Conditioner-These are my favorite shampoo/conditioners lately. When I went vegan and transitioned to cruelty free toiletries, I tried some other vegan shampoos that didn’t give me a great lather and conditioners that either didn’t feel conditioning enough or left my hair feeling overly greasy. These work really well for me–the shampoo gives a good lather and the condition does what it should (conditions!) without weighing down my fine hair. I will repurchase it and have multiple times already. (I use the conditioner less because I usually use oVertone.)
Lush Veganese- I wasn’t a fan of this conditioner–it’s very thin, and I didn’t feel like my hair was very conditioned afterwards. If you prefer a lightweight conditioner though you might enjoy this one. I won’t repurchase it.
oVertone Extreme Orange Go Deep Treatment & Daily Conditioner– I’ve been using Overtone for almost a year now and love it! A few months ago I switched from Vibrant Orange to Extreme Orange, and I prefer Extreme Orange because it has more pigment, so I can go longer between Go Deep treatments, and my color stays longer. The only downside to Extreme Orange is that it does stain more easily. Check out my full oVertone review here, and get 10% off oVertone here!
Shikai Body Wash (Coconut & Sandalwood)- The Shikai coconut is my favorite body wash lately–I love the smell and the lather. I usually buy it at Wheatsville, but since they didn’t have it last time I went, I tried the Sandalwood instead, and I didn’t like it as much–I don’t know if it was the scent or what, but it didn’t seem to make me smell and feel as clean as the coconut. I’ve bought the coconut multiple times and will stick with that one from now on.
Schmidt’s Natural Deodorants– I got a pack of travel sizes of these to try different scents (I already knew I liked the deodorant). My favorites are Lavender + Sage and Cedarwood + Juniper. Lucas loved the Cedarwood + Juniper one as well and bought a full size stick. I’ve tried their potted deodorants and they work great as well, though I prefer the convenience of the stick version.
