I enjoy watching Beauty Empties videos on Youtube, so I’m doing my own blog version. But since as a photographer I can’t bring myself to take photos of old, sad, empty containers, I’m just going to list the beauty products I’ve used up lately and let you know what I thought of them and if I’ll re-purchase or not.
Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème– I ran out of this recently, and I repurchased it in the same shade (L5, for under eye brightening), and I also got it in L11 for spot concealing. It’s thick, so you need to set it well to prevent creasing, but I like the coverage and consistency. It works well for body acne too when I have blemishes on my chest.
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in (Trooper)- This is my all time fave liquid eyeliner, and yes of course I repurchased it! It’s easy to work with, it’s waterproof/cry-proof, and it lasts all day.
Pacifica Dream Big Mascara (Black Magic)- I love this mascara and will definitely re-purchase it, though I’m not in a rush because I am also loving the Root 100% Lash lately. The brush’s length changes when you twist it, so you can apply a layer with the brush while it’s long for length and separation, and then twist it and apply another while it’s short for volume.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara– This mascara creates volume and length and was my favorite mascara for a while, but I probably won’t repurchase it since I usually avoid Too Faced now that they are owned by Estee Lauder, and I have other mascaras I like just as much. Also, it can get kind of clumpy, and the wand is too big in my opinion. I like other mascaras with smaller wands like the Root & Dream Big Better.
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation (Vanilla)– This was my go-to foundation for a year and one of my favorites. It feels lightweight, it looks like skin but better, and it has medium to full buildable coverage. I prefer not to support cruelty free brands who are owned by a company that does animal testing though, so I haven’t purchased anything from Too Faced since they were sold to Estee Lauder. Lately I’ve been using the Cover FX Total Cover Cream Foundation (N20) and Marc Jacob’s Re(marc)able Foundation (Ivory 12) instead.
oVertone Vibrant/Extreme Orange– Check out my review for more info. about oVertone, but yes I love it and repurchased, but lately I’ve been using Extreme Orange instead of Vibrant Orange, and it’s worked out great because the color is even more pigmented and lasts even longer! The only downside to Extreme Orange is that it does stain more easily. Get 10% off oVertone here!
Schmidt’s Lavender Stage Stick Deodorant– Schmidt’s is my favorite natural and vegan deodorant–it actually works for me (unlike some others I’ve tried), I love the scent, and it only has a handful of ingredients. I have repurchased the stick in the past, but this time I got the jar kind to try something different. (Also, they have a recycle club where you can get a free deodorant if you send back 5 jars.)
Lush Rosy Cheeks Fresh Face Mask– This is one of their masks made from fresh ingredients, so you have to keep it in the fridge, and it feels nice and cooling when putting it on, and it helps with redness, which I majorly need. It also has a lovely rosy scent. I enjoyed this one and would re-purchase it again, though I ended up getting their Catastrophe Cosmetic mask instead the next time just to try something different. Another cool thing with Lush is if you bring in 5 clean empty mask containers, you get a free fresh face mask!
Lush Beautiful Shower Gel– This stuff smelled nice and worked fine, but I’m not planning on re-purchasing it since it’s pricey, and I wasn’t in love. I got more of the body wash I’ve been using and liking a lot lately (this ShiKai coconut one) instead.
Lush Bunch of Carrots, Pink Flamingo, & Milky Bath Bubble Bars- So I used the orange carrot from the bunch of carrots first and was fine, but then when I used the pink carrot, I got a few hives on my leg, so I think I’m allergic to one of the red colors used in their pink bubble bars. I contacted Lush, and their customer service was great, and I was able to return the Bunch of Carrots and Pink Flamingo to the Austin store, and I got the Milky Bath bar instead, and a fresh face mask. I haven’t re-purchased Milky Bath, but I may in the future.
Lush Golden Egg Bath Bomb– This one was fun and glittery, and I haven’t repurchased it yet, but I might at some point.
