When I was a kid, I used to love making (analog) videos–I’d shoot home movies, fashion shows with my friends, and even some short films. (I wish I could share some, but most have copyrighted music in them.)
I’ve been meaning to try out video again for a while now, but I felt overwhelmed at the thought of learning video editing, especially with how complex it seems these days. After years of shooting photos and taking classes and getting to the point where I feel confident in my skills, the thought of starting something from scratch again felt daunting.
But at some point you have to just try, you have to be willing to be not that good at something at first so eventually you can get better at it (or just have fun at whatever level you’re at.)
So I shot some footage on my Sony rx100V when I was in Dallas seeing Fleetwood Mac and visiting my friend Andy, and the last couple of nights I taught myself some video editing.
I’m proud because a few days ago I didn’t even know what software to try editing with… and I love how this cute little video came out! (I ended up going with Shotcut since it’s free, and I found this helpful video on basic editing.)
I wish I had taken the plunge and started trying to make videos a long time ago, but I guess things happen when you’re ready. I talked about starting this blog for a while before I started. Sometimes I need to psyche myself up and brainstorm.
Anyways, check out the video and let me know what you think! And if you want to subscribe to my channel that would make my day. 🙂
Is there something you’ve been meaning to try lately but feel nervous or intimidated to start? Let me know in the comments!
