This past weekend I made a quick trip to Dallas to go to Dallas Comic Show and meet Andy and Lucy from Twin Peaks!
When I saw that Harry Goaz and Kimmy Robertson were going to be in Dallas at the Comic Show, I so wanted to go! I asked my Instagram friend/vegan babe Andy Peachy if she wanted to go with since we’d been talking about Twin Peaks recently and she lives in the area…and now I have a new IRL vegan friend! Social media can be awesome sometimes, right?!
Before the show, Andy and I met up at Reverie Bakeshop, an all vegan bakery nearby in Richardson. I wasn’t sure how many gluten free options they would have, but they had so many that I had trouble deciding what to get. I ended up getting a scone, blueberry muffin, gingerbread vampire, and a pumpkin spice cake ball (all gf), and everything was so delicious! They also had donuts, cupcakes, kolaches, and so many pastries that all looked amazing.
After pastries, we headed to the show. I’ve been to Dallas ComicCon twice before, but this was my first time at Dallas Comic Show, and it was a lot smaller and more chill, which was fun. There was less to see, but it was also way less crowded and not so overwhelming, which is definitely a huge plus for me.
Harry Goaz and Kimmy Robertson did a Q&A session, and they seemed a lot like their characters and were so cool. At one point someone asked what they took away from the last episode of The Return…and Harry said something along the lines of that he likes that it’s a journey he can take over and over, and that it can take on different meanings, and I so agree with that! I know a lot of people didn’t like the ending, but I thought it was perfect, and I feel like I “got” it, even if I can’t really explain it logically. And watching the old seasons after seeing The Return feels like a whole new experience.
After their Q&A we did our photo-op! It may be kinda cheesy but I seriously love the photos I’ve gotten with my faves at cons, and I think it’s so awesome when celebrities do appearances and meet fans.
Besides the Q&A and photo-op, the main thing I wanted to do at the show was get some prints from Josh Howard, who created a print for each episode of The Return, and they’re so epic! I wanted them all but limited myself to four of my faves…though I already want another because I just saw the new one for Episode 18 and got the chills.
After the show, Andy and I went to eat at Spiral Diner. Spiral was my fave of all of the vegan places I tried last time I was in Dallas…and clearly everyone loves it because it’s always crowded. I actually went there the night before as well with my friends who I was staying with, and we ended up getting it to go because the wait was so long. There was a wait when Andy and I went as well, but it went by fast since we were busy talking and taking selfies.
I got the Nachos Supremo, which were piled high with cashew nacho cheese, quinoa, black beans, cilantro, corn, tomatoes, green onions, and guacamole. They were so good! And of course, I had to get some damn fine coffee too.
Andy ordered one of the Loaded Baked Potato specials with vegan cheese, sour cream, butter, and chives, which she said was delicious as well.
Of course we also talked vegan beauty and Andy showed me one of her beauty faves, the Cover FX Powder Foundation, which I now want to try.
I had so much fun at the Dallas Comic Show and hanging out with Andy! Are you a Twin Peaks fan? Have you ever met any of your fave actors/celebrities? Have you met up with friends that you made on Instagram? Let me know in the comments!
