I can’t believe it’s June already! Keep reading to find out more about my vegan and cruelty free favorites from May! Also check out my post on all of the vegan and gluten free food I ate while at Disney World last week.
FOOD- RECIPES
One of my favorite recipes I made in May was this delicious Crispy Buffalo Cauliflower from Forks Over Knives. I even created a vegan ranch recipe to go with it! I also made (for the millionth time) one of my favorite taco recipes, the Wake & Shake Tacos from The Taco Cleanse. The Taco Cleanse is a vegan recipe book written by local Austin taco scientists–check it out!
My favorite smoothie recipe in May was High Carb Hannah’s peanut butter cup smoothie–it’s so delicious and easy to make. And of course I have to share one of my own recipes–my Colorful Kale and Avocado Salad. I’m honestly not the biggest salad fan, but this salad is so yummy I crave it and make it often. I also shared my Sweet Potato Surprise and Carrot Cake Oatmeal recipes this month.
FOOD- RESTAURANTS
This month I tried the new deep dish vegan and gluten free crust from Li’l Nonnas while at the Austin Witches Market at Buzzmill, and it is SO GOOD. They also have vegan pepperoni and smokey tempeh, and their house made vegan cheese is amazing!
I also ordered this amazing Star Wars themed vegan and gluten free cookie cake from Zucchini Kill Bakery for an epic Star Wars marathon with Julien on May the 4th.
BEAUTY
This month I shared a post with Tips for Switching to Cruelty Free and Vegan Makeup–check it out if you haven’t already! I also created a Makeup Page that lists all of the makeup I use if you’re curious.
In May I tried out the 100% Lash Mascara and White Gold Illuminator from Root, and they both quickly became favorites–the highlighter especially is so gorgeous! Root is a 100% vegan beauty brand, and their shipping is also super fast.
Some of my other beauty faves were the Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème (which has actually been a fave for a while) and Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liners (I have Outlaw & Vampira).
This month I also used oVertone to keep my hair fiery red as per usual, but I switched from Vibrant Orange to Extreme Orange for even more color and love it. oVertone also shared my photo again too which was awesome!
FASHION
Sadly the Lavishy bag I got from Herbivore Clothing recently broke, but I was able to get a refund credit, and I got this amazing The World Used to be Cooler shirt instead. I didn’t do any other clothes shopping in May, but I also enjoyed this fashion post from Logical Harmony.
MOVIES/TV/BOOKS
This month I binge watched Dear White People in like 2 days–the characters are compelling and the social commentary is important–I definitely recommend it! I’m way late on this one, but I also got hooked on Scandal. Who else watches it so we can talk about it?! I also started reading Sister Species but haven’t finished it yet, so I’ll post more about it when I do.
BLOGS/VLOGS
As per usual, this month I’ve been loving Logical Harmony’s Foundation Fridays. I love foundation videos, and I’m constantly going to Sephora to get samples and try new vegan foundations.
I also discovered a new (to me) beauty vlogger that I like–Thataylaa. I found her channel while searching for reviews of Face Atelier foundation, and she isn’t vegan or cruelty free, but she does a bunch of thorough foundation reviews, some of which are vegan. She doesn’t always say if they’re vegan, but I created a playlist of her videos with vegan products.
I also found this video from vlogger Jasmine Rose with helpful tips on how to go vegan–if you’re newly vegan or considering going vegan, definitely check it out!
