Must Try Vegan in Bath: Green Rocket Cafe

September 28, 2018 By Penny

While Lucas and I were in England this summer with family, we went on a Bath, Stonehenge, and Costwolds day tour from London. While all three of these places were beautiful and worth visiting, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend a day tour since we felt rushed at each location, but we still made the most of it, of course.

We were only in Bath for a couple of hours, which isn’t time to do much, especially since there is often a long line to get tickets for a tour of the Roman baths. So we had a choice between trying to wait in line and going on the tour (and then basically not eating all day) or eating a nice meal, so of course Lucas and I chose sampling the local vegan food.

By the time we got to Bath, we were starving, and I was so excited when we walked into Green Rocket Cafe, a really cute little vegetarian restaurant with vegan and gluten free options. Everything looked so good, and Lucas and I ordered a tempeh Caesar salad, beer battered onion rings, a mushroom, sun-dried tomato and basil rice burger on gluten free bread, and General Tso’s Broccoli and Tofu stir fry to split.

Y’all, it’s not that often that I’m impressed with a salad, but I’m still thinking about their tempeh Cesar and wishing I could get it again. The dressing was spot on, and the tempeh and soy strips were a perfect addition. I need to try to recreate it because salads often bore me but this one was delicious–we finished it quickly, and I wished we’d ordered the full size. The onion rings were also delicious, and I was excited they were gluten free because most aren’t.

The burger and stir fry were both really fresh and tasty as well (the stir fry didn’t actually come with any tofu though which was odd and disappointing), but the stand outs for me were the appetizers. I also got an oat milk latte (I got oat milk lattes everywhere I could in England because we don’t have them around Austin.)

If you’re ever in the area, I definitely recommend checking out Green Rocket Cafe! Have you been there? Any suggestions for amazing Caesar salad recipes so I can re-create something similar? Please let me know in the comments!
