While we were in London, Lucas and I often picked places to eat depending on what area we were hanging out and sightseeing in, but we made a special trip on the tube to Cookies and Scream on Holloway Road, and I’m glad we did because it was amazing!
Cookies and Scream is an all vegan and gluten free bakery in North London, and they hand make cookies, brownies, pies, and other goodies in small batches. The little shop is really cozy (they call it a cookie bar), with band photos on the wall, retro bar stools, and a display of their heavenly baked goods.
Lucas and I skipped breakfast in anticipation of eating all the sweets, and we seriously wanted to order one of everything, but we settled on splitting a cookie sandwich, a brownie, and we each got a shake as well (mine was the coffee one and his was caramel.)
Y’all, the cookie sandwich was to die for. It was soft, sweet, and decadent, and it didn’t taste gluten free. The brownie was also delicious and one of the best vegan brownies I’ve had. The shakes were good too, but all together it was almost too much sugar for me. Next time I would probably skip the shake and go for more baked goods instead because they were so good. (I hope we go back to London at some point in the nearish future because I need more of them in my life, and more Temple of Seitan too!)
On Cookie’s and Scream’s Instagram, it says their goods are small batch, and they mean it–we could see them baking while we sat at the bar enjoying our treats, which I thought was really cool. Lucas talked hardcore bands with some of the peeps working at the shop, and they also said they’d heard of Capital City Bakery in Austin, and we told them about Zucchini Kill.
Everything about our visit to Cookies and Scream was lovely–if you’re in London, I highly recommend checking it out.
Have you been to any vegan bakeries, and if so, which ones? Let me know in the comments!
