Novel Makeup Part 6: The Séance

For Part 6 in my novel makeup series, in which I match my makeup to book covers, I chose The Séance by Joan Lowery Nixon.

I used to read so much when I was a pre-teen/teen; I’d finish a book every day or two. Since I read so fast, my mom would take me to used book stores to trade in my books periodically, so I don’t have a lot of the books I read back then. Somehow one box survived though–I found it in my parent’s attic earlier this year, and in it were some of my old Caroline B. Cooney and Joan Lowery Nixon books, including this one.

The book was published in 1980, but my copy is from the 1990’s. I reread it recently and was surprised by how well written it was–it was also weird because I know I read it back then but had absolutely no recollection of the story.

I was drawn to the graphic cover of the book and knew it would be fun for this photo series. For the makeup look, I used yellow shadow from the Colourpop uh-huh honey palette and purple shadow from the Coloured Raine Vivid Pigment Palette. I debated on whether to add glitter to the look but ended up deciding to because I love glitter, and I also thought it could add a candle-lit feeling to the look. I paired it with a nude lip so that the attention is focused on the eye. All of the products I used are vegan and cruelty free and are listed below.
