October Favorites

November 4, 2017 By Penny

Food (Vegan & Gluten Free)

I may be biased, but one of my favorite recipes during October was my Riverdale Inspired Milkshakes, especially the chocolate shake! I had so much fun experimenting with the recipes and setting up this Riverdale themed shoot. Who else loves Riverdale?! And speaking of Riverdale, check out my Cheryl Blossom inspired looks post as well.

Another one of my favorite recipes that I tried last month were these Broccoli Cheddar Quinoa Bites from Chocolate Covered Katie. I’m not a huge fan of quinoa on its own, but I like sneaking it into foods, and this recipe is so delicious! I made it with nooch in mini-muffin tins, and they were so good I ate the whole tray in one sitting. These would also be great to pack for work, school, or travel. (Reminder: I post a lot of the recipes I try on Pinterest if you’re curious.)

Another favorite food this month were the Enjoy Life Brownies my Dad made me. The brownie mix is vegan and gluten free, and you just add some water and oil and bake them, and they’re delicious! My Dad also added vegan chocolate chips and walnuts, which I highly recommend.

I’ve already mentioned Arlo’s in a favorite post before, but I’m gonna mention them again because their burgers are so good, and I took my friend Andy there as well as to Milky Way Shakes (yummy vegan shakes!) when she was visiting in Austin. They’re both located at Spiderhouse, so it’s a perfect place to get vegan burgers and shakes!

One last favorite food thing I want to mention is MOD Pizza–and they’re a chain (with a location in The Woodlands), and I love that they have unlimited toppings, a vegan/gf crust, and vegan cheese!

Fashion

I’ve had my eye on local witchy brand Hauntwell for a while now, but I had to get some shirts when I saw the Fall 2017 sigils. Honestly I love all of them but as a food blogger and photographer I had to get the Technological Ease & Culinary Prowess shirts! Not only are they gorgeous but they’re comfortable as well. As I’m typing this I’m contemplating ordering more.

TV

I was feeling under the weather this month, so I watched quite a bit of TV. I caught up with The Originals early in the month (a more adult spin-off of The Vampire Diaries), and I can’t wait for the last season (bring back Caroline!)

And of course one of my favorite shows in October (and this year!) was Stranger Things! If you’ve seen it, let me know if you prefer season 1 or 2. I need to re-watch Season 1 to decide!

Marvel’s The Defenders

Lucas and I also watched a lot of Marvel in October–Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders. The Defenders was my fave of the three–I love seeing them all interact!

Once last show we watched was Mindhunter on Netflix, which is about FBI agents who interviewed serial killers to study their psychology in the 1970s. It’s based on a book so I’m curious if the show does it justice, but it was fascinating and disturbing.

What were some of your favorite in October? Have you watched the new season of Stranger Things? Let me know in the comments!
