Last weekend my friend Andy came to visit, and of course we had to try lots of new (to us) vegan food. There are so many good vegan places in Austin these days, it’s hard to keep up!
The Beer Plant

Our first stop was The Beer Plant, where we got the best buffalo cauliflower ever!
Even though I’d been to The Beer Plant many times, I hadn’t tried the buffalo cauliflower yet because I used to eat gluten free, and wow, it is out of this world. It’s perfectly breaded and crispy, with an amazing bleu cheese for dipping (I thought it was ranch, but whatever it was, it was great). We both liked it so much, it was our favorite dish of everything we tried all weekend, and we considered going back to The Beer Plant just for more cauliflower (but ended up trying new things.)
We also tried their mac n cheese skillet, chicken caesar salad, and tres leches cake. The cake was delicious, and I enjoyed the salad as well. The mac and cheese wasn’t my favorite, but Andy liked it–which just goes to show tastes are subjective!
Rebel Cheese

I’d been to Rebel Cheese once already, but it was my first time trying their brunch, and it was such a treat! Andy and I both got the Flake and Bake breakfast sandwich, which features crispy hand-cut pig-less bacon, creamy cheddar, avocado, tomato, and harmless egg on a local croissant, and it was exquisite. We also got a vegan pop tart–yum! I’ll definitely be back to Rebel Cheese for brunch, and I also want to go get one of their cheese boards.
Sundaze North

This was my first time trying Sundaze, and I was so impressed. Andy and I both got their No Frickin Chicken sandwich, and it was so tasty! It was crispy, juicy on the inside, with a soft bun, and the fries and ranch were delicious too. I highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t yet. (Note: There are two Sundaze locations, the south one has vegan as well as non-vegan chicken, and the north location is all vegan.)
We tried so much delicious vegan food in just a couple of days, it was a total success! Have you tried any of the dishes I mentioned, or any other good vegan options lately? Let me know in the comments!
