One of my goals for 2020 is to branch out and try more vegan places I haven’t been to yet (there are quite a few in Austin, check out the list here), and my first one this year was Plow Bao, a new plant-based dim sum trailer at the Buzzmill on Shady Lane.
Luke and I went all out and ordered one of everything: crab rangoons, pan fried pork dumplings, steamed beef dumplings, beef and shrimp shu mai, the Sichuan chili oil wantons, and sweet dessert dumplings:

Both Luke and I liked the crab rangoons best–they were delicious and we hadn’t had them in years, since before goingvegan. Our second favorite dish was the chili oil wontons special–we couldn’t get enough of the spicy chili oil sauce.
It was also our first time at Buzzmill Shady, and we also got Flap Jack lattes (made with espresso, sea salt, maple syrup, and cinnamon) with oat milk and Zucchini Kill cupcakes while we were waiting for the trailer to open.
In addition to Plow Bao, there’s also another new plant based food trailer at Buzzmill Shady that I need to try as well–Plow-B-Q! Have you tried Plow Bao or Plow-B-Q? What are your favorite things there? Let me know in the comments!
