I’ve only been out to eat twice this year so far, and both were new (to me) places, so I’m going strong on my goal of trying new vegan food in 2020! (The first place was Plow Bao.)
Clay Pit is an omnivore Indian restaurant in Austin with labeled vegan options–my friend Bea and I went for dinner and ordered Vegetable Samosas (stuffed, fried pastries), Vegetable Pakoras (chick pea and cumin battered veggies), Channa Masala (garbanzo beans cooked with fresh ginger, coriander & tomatoes), and Yellow Daal Tarka (yellow and red lentil stew tempered with cumin, onion, ginger, and garlic.)
Everything was quite tasty! My favorites were the appetizers–no surprise there, I love fried things! The samosas were crispy and filled with a soft veggie filling, and the vegetable pakoras came with battered potatoes, cauliflower, onion rings, and zucchini (my favorite of those was the potatoes.)
Have you been to Clay Pit? If so what are your favorite dishes there? Let me know in the comments!
