The last couple of times I went to Universal Studios (in 2018 & 2017), there weren’t many vegan options, so I was excited to see quite a few this year, including the two I had a chance to try.
Cafe 4 (Universal’s Islands of Adventure)
When it was time for lunch, my family was tired and people were getting hangry, so I was relieved when we walked by Cafe 4 and saw they had a plant based option labeled on the menu. The option was Spaghetti Bolognese with Gardein crumbles and vegan cheese. Unlike the other combos, it didn’t come with a Caesar salad since the salad isn’t vegan, but it came with a bread-stick.
I was happy with this meal–I love Gardein so I enjoyed the pasta and appreciated that it had vegan cheese too and a bread-stick.
Mel’s Drive-In (Universal Studios Orlando)
For dinner we went to Mel’s Drive-In, which has a cute retro diner aesthetic. I was glad to see they had a vegan option–the Chick’n & Avocado Sandwich, which features Gardein Chick’n and Follow Your Heart American cheese, with a side of fries.
Unfortunately everyone else I was with (non-vegans) complained or didn’t seem to like the food, but I liked my vegan sandwich. I wish they had a vegan shake option though–that would have brought the meal to another level.
I was so happy to see more vegan options at Universal Studios this year, and I’m excited to try more next time I get a chance to go.
Have you tried any vegan options at Universal Studios? How were they? Let me know in the comments!
