I’ve been wanting to go to Hamilton Pool for years now but never went until earlier this week…and I can’t believe it took me so long because it’s so beautiful!

You have to make reservations now, so I made one a couple of weeks ago. I’ve heard it can get really crowded, but it wasn’t when we went, probably because it was a Monday and school isn’t out for summer yet. We enjoyed hiking–it’s about a half mile hike to and from the pool and 3/4 mile to and from the river, so in all we hiked at least a couple of miles.

If you can believe it, I hiked in a tube top…which if you know me is actually very my style. What can I say…it’s hot here in Texas already, and I wanted to wear as little as possible! I managed to avoid any boob slippage, but it’s also legal to be topless in Travis County if you didn’t know. I enjoy swimming topless at Barton Springs and Deep Eddy, and I go to Hippie Hollow sometimes as well, where you’re allowed to be totally nude.
Swimming wasn’t allowed while we were there because of bacteria levels after the recent rains, but it was still fun to just marvel at the beauty, hike, take photos, and snack on chips and guacamole and fruit.
I made another one of my home movie style videos of the trip if you want to check it out:
(While you’re there–I’d love it if you’d subscribe to my channel!)
I took the video and a few photos with my sony rx100V, and I also shot some photos on my old Minolta film camera that I’ll still need to get developed.
Have you been to Hamilton Pool? What are some of your favorite nature spots near Austin (or anywhere in Texas)? I want to check out more!
