What I ate in The Woodlands (Vegan & Gluten free)

October 17, 2017 By Penny

This is part 2 in my What I Ate in The Woodlands series (that will eventually lead to a guide/list). Check out the vegan and gluten free restaurant options I found in The Woodlands during my most recent trip, and check out Part 1 for more options as well!

Whole Foods– Orchid Roll vegan sushi

Whole Foods has quite a few vegan options in their deli section–there are always options at the salad bar (veggies, tofu, rice, beans, etc.) as well as in the packaged foods section (salads, pasta, desserts, etc.) Whole Foods also makes fresh sushi, and though their ready to go veggie rolls aren’t vegan since they contain honey, they can make you a vegan orchid roll with black rice if you ask. Note: The Orchid Roll is labeled as vegan but not gluten free–I think the gluten is only in the sauce, but ask if you have a gluten sensitivity.

MOD Pizza– Gluten free crust with vegan cheese

MOD Pizza is a vegan friendly pizza chain that offers vegan & vegan/gluten free crusts, and build your own pizza (unlimited toppings!) with vegan cheese. I was super excited when I found out one opened in The Woodlands because while finding vegan pizza isn’t that hard, it’s harder to find vegan/gf options especially ones that offer vegan cheese. I also love that MOD has their allergy info. online.

Salata– Build your own salad

Salata is a build your own salad chain with lots of vegan options like veggies, tofu, quinoa, falafel, and they usually have vegan soup options as well–their full vegan friendly/allergy list is here. This time I got lots of greens and veggies as well as chickpeas, quinoa, and oil/fat free sun dried tomato dressing.

Enjoy Life Brownies

These aren’t from a restaurant, but I want to mention them anyways–my Dad surprised me with these vegan and gluten free brownies using Enjoy Life brownie mix. He added chopped walnuts and vegan chocolate chips–they were so chocolaty and delicious! They are labeled certified vegan on the box which is helpful because not all Enjoy Life products are vegan (some contain honey.)

Have you tried any vegan options at restaurants in The Woodlands? Let me know in the comments!
