Last week I drove to Houston to hang out with my friend Karla and go to a Charlaine Harris book signing, and it was a blast!
Karla and I went to lunch at Korny Vibes, a vegan cafe in Montrose, and it was so good! Karla and I ordered cauliflower wings, KV Tacos (al pastor tacos), and the slider trio, which comes with spicy chicken, buffalo chicken, and Beyond beef sliders and curly fries.
Everything was delicious, and Karla said it was really good too, which is impressive because she isn’t always the biggest fan of vegan food. The tacos were flavorful, the cauliflower wings were so crispy, and the sliders and fries were all tasty as well. Our favorite of the sliders was the spicy chicken.
After lunch Karla and I went to the Houston Museum of Fine Arts and saw the Norman Rockwell exhibit and then had coffee and crepes at Sweet Paris before heading to Murder by the Book, a crime fiction bookstore, for the Charlaine Harris book signing.

Charlaine Harris talked a little about her latest book A Longer Fall and answered questions, like which of her characters she identifies with most (Aurora Teagarden), and which of her side characters is her favorite (Pam!) It was so cool to listen to her talk–she’s one of my favorite authors, and I’m in awe of how many amazing stories and characters she’s created.
Have you been to any cool book signings lately? Have you been to Korny Vibes? What are some of your favorite vegan places in Houston? Let me know in the comments! Next on my list is Houston Sauce Co.–I wanted to go there during this trip but the food truck wasn’t around that day.
